I grew up in 3 best places i can tell… In MAKATI Then QUIAPO during elem.days in MLQU then in MARIKINA till the last day of my singlehood ….. a very great time when everyone treated each other like family, everyone’s mom was called Tita or Tya even if there was no relation We went outside to play in the streets, we got dirty till the sun goes down…We seldom eat at fast food… We choose the freshly home made food We got ice cream from ice cream man that rings the bell when passing each street, otherwise a home made ice candy from the freezer. We played agawan base, turumpo, tumbang preso, moro moro, badminton , sipa, jackstone, piko, patintero luksong baka, jolen, text, tansan, baril barilan, bahay bahayan, langit lupa, chinese garter. There was no bottled water, we drank water from the tap if we had a drink we would share the same bottle of Pop Cola…after giving it a wipe with our mucky sleeves, only sesame kids, voltes v,daimos, mazinger z, kids few channels , rode our bikes for hours and roller skates.. There was no such thing as a mobile phone or any other electronic device . We frolicked in the streets during thunderstorms or flooding. We weren’t AFRAID OF ANYTHING. If someone had a fight, that’s what it was…a fist fight. Kids didn’t have guns or knives. The street lights were your curfew or until your mom shouted out. School was mandatory, of course becoz i know evryone wants to graduate. We watched our mouths around our elders because we knew we’d get a crack, belt or some shoe, slipper.
