I took this photo of my mom with an old film camera I used to have. It’s one of my favorite memories with her. She took me and my brother and sister up to the Sequoia Forest for a week. We went exploring, hiking, white water rafting, even did a little yoga. But the best moment was when we are all hanging out in our cabin one night, drinking some red wine, sharing stories, laughing and crying together. She shared how she loved us deeply. She shared how she wasn’t afraid to die, but instead scared to leave us by ourselves and not be able to watch over us anymore. Which she did by herself for most of her life as a mother. And we were probably the craziest three kids to raise alone. But she was always there, and always loved us no matter what. I miss her a ton. But I know if she were still here she would tell me to never stop smiling today, to be joyful, and to focus on the positive things (which she was the best at). So that’s what I’ll do! Love you, mom.
