was a man whose heart beat with the rhythm of love and social justice,” reads a statement from the late country icon’s children. “He would be horrified at even a casual use of his name or image for an idea or a cause founded in persecution and hatred” This gentleman was in attendance on Saturday evening and came back on Sunday for the last performance with a hand written shirt! I rode past Heart Charlottesville shirt VA on Friday afternoon on a solo motorcycle trip. I had been stranded for a few hours not far. Harley Davidson of Lynchburg picked me and my bike up for a quick repair. I had been clueless of the news all weekend as I was riding for 3 days. I’m just now catching up. My heart hurts. It’s terrified. It’s disturbed. It does not want to stay silent though. Shame on all of us. For those who find any excuse to brush this off as excusable (disgusting) And for those who stay silent. Now is not the time to be silent. What if I had left a day later? I’m sure they would have loved to help an independent mixed female alone on the side of the road. Ugh. And the nerve of certain people saying they had the right to protest when those very same people ridiculed me for protesting in the women’s march. They called me a cry baby, a snow flake. That my opinion didn’t matter. I had my pink shirt and peaceful sign. They had tiki torches and violence.
